Monthly updates My 101

Monthly Update May 2015

June 2, 2015

Last month I wasn’t able to blog that much, because it was the month my goals though. On the contrary. I actually completed three goals last month! I also progressed on a few others. But first, let’s have a look at the ones I completed!

No. 95: Send a surprise package I assembled myself to someone I care about on a random day.

Okay, it took me a while to complete this goal. I already started assembling the package in December. But this goal gave me a few extra challenges, which caused me to postpone it a couple of times. If you’d like to know the struggles I faced but missed my post about it, you can read it here. Most important thing is: In the end, I managed! And the friend who received the package was very happy with it.

No. 29: Paint on a canvas.

To be honest, I didn’t paint a canvas. I painted six! Yes, six! And all in three days time. For the play we needed a couple of paintings and someone had to paint them. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to finish this goal. You can see one of the paintings in this post already, but later this week I will reveal all of the paintings in a separate blog article.

No. 46: Finish painting the secretary desk.

Again a goal I finishes for the play. I had actually already done painted a lot of the secretary desk a long time ago. But at one point I stopped for some reason and left the desk unfinished for months. We needed a desk in our play though, and although it could have been any regular desk, I chose to make it mine. Because how awesome would it be to see my own refurbished fairy tale desk shining on stage? Besides that, it was good to have a deadline now. The excuses to postpone this project were gone! I will write a blog article about the whole refurbishing project soon with before and after pics, but for now, I’ll reveal just a small detail. Isn’t it beautiful?

Besides the goals I completed, I also progressed on some others.

No. 33: Create an alphabet photo series.

Some pictures were made a couple of months ago already, but I hadn’t posted them on my blog yet. Last month I took a lot of alphabet pictures after finding the perfect letter Q with Ruud. I decided to start sharing them with you. I’m looking forward to proceeding with this goal. It’s so much fun finding the alphabet in random everyday objects!

In total I took pictures of nine different letters of the alphabet, which means that I have accomplished 27% of this goal now. Not bad, right? You can see all the pictures I took so far in this post.

No. 40: Lose 30 kg (66 lbs).

After the struggle I had in April, I was afraid that it would be difficult to get back in the flow. But I managed! I lost 1,1 kg this month, which means I lost a total of 8 kg now! That’s 27% of this goal already after half a year! I’m really proud of my progress so far. If I’ll proceed in this pace, I will have completed this goal a long time before the end of my 1001 days. Let’s keep my fingers crossed!

No. 36: Take a selfie every month.

In May I took a selfie on one of the happiest and proudest days of my life: The day of the performance of Bedtime Stories. This is a day I want to remember for the rest of my life, so what better moment could I have chosen to take my selfie?

No. 35: Own ‘Q&A a Day: a 5 Year Journal’ and write in it every day.

I’m still faithfully writing this journal. I still love answering a new question every day. I think this will become a wonderful memory.

No. 82: Go see 25 theater performances (professional or amateur)

May always is a great month for theater. It’s the end of the theater season, so lots of plays have their performance date in that month. I took this opportunity to see there plays. I went to MAC and to Shakespeare’s As You Like It, both performed by theater group Gras. But the most special performance I saw was the play I wrote myself: Bedtime Stories by WOW-EFFECT! This was the most amazing experience ever, which I can’t possibly describe in this short piece of text. I will blog about all of them this month, so stay tuned!

In total I have seen nine theater performances now since the start of my Day Zero Project, so I’m at 36%. That’s more than a third already!

I am very pleased with what I have accomplished last month. I’m especially happy with the secretary desk goal, because I was dreading this for so long. But now I’ve started painting furniture again, it will be much easier to proceed refurbishing the other things on my list. I’ve already planned some goals to be achieved this month. The Day Zero Project is still fully on my mind!
