March almost went by without completing any of my goals. Fortunately, I discovered this just in time! So just before the end of the month, I was able to cross one goal off my list. This doesn’t mean that I have been doing nothing the rest of the months. In fact I was very active in doing stuff on my list. I just chose to work on the long-term goals.
No. 65: Cook with coke
This is the goal I was able to complete! I made a Caramelized Pork Curry, which was absolutely delicious. Coke really makes a dish very special. You can read all about it here.
No. 70: Read 25 novels
When I was young, I was always surrounded by books and imaginative worlds to escape in. I’m still surrounded by them nowadays, but somehow I had lost the ability to just sit down, relax and read them. Which is ironic, because a good amount of stress relieve is just what I need. (Doesn’t anyone?) So you can see why this goal is so important to me. And what better way to start off this goal by reading the complete Harry Potter series? I wanted to read it for so many years now. And by finishing them, I would be completing 28% of this goal in no time, assuming that I would like the series of course.
Well, it turns out I don’t like the Harry Potter books. I LOVE them! One might even say I worship and admire them. I was totally hooked. For a whole month, I used all my spare time and more to enjoy the wizard world of Hogwarts. I managed to finish the seventh book on the last day of March. Two of them I’ve already written reviews about, which you can find here and here. Of course I’m glad to be progressing so well on my goal, but I feel sad that I can’t enjoy any more stories of this magical world.
But of course I knew my Harry Potter adventure would come to an end eventually. So besides feeding my Potter addiction every day, I also did another thing that will help me reach this goal. On a flee market, I bought some new books I’d really like to read. These included some English ones…
…and some Dutch ones as well.
Also, this month was Week of Books (Boekenweek) in the Netherlands, which means if you buy one book, you get another one for free, which is a novel specially written for this week. I managed to find a novel that I’m really interested in. And on top of it all, I got another book from my dog school teacher. She already read it and wanted to make someone else happy with it. So these books are all next on my list! This was the most time consuming goal for me last Month, but I absolutely loved every second of it!
No. 82: Go see 25 theater performances.
Besides reading, March was full of theater as well. March 6, I saw ‘Zichzelf’ performed by STeL, which I wrote about here. The day after that, I went to the improv performance ‘Nachtgasten’, which you can read all about here. On March 20, I saw a longform improv performed by my own group. If you’ve missed my post about it, you can read it here. And just last Saturday, I went to ‘Maria Magdalena’, performed by True-C. I haven’t written a review about that one yet, but I will do that somewhere in the next few days. So keep posted!
Four theater performances in one month, not bad eh? I also found some really nice plays I’d like to see the next few months. So this goal is progressing really great!
No. 35: Own a Q&A a day and write in it every day.
I’m still dedicated to my little diary! It’s so much fun answering a question every day.
No. 41: Eat 2 portions of fruit every day for a month. Do this three times.
I tried this goal so many times the last few months, assuming it was one of my easier ones. You just have to do it, right? What I didn’t expect was me forgetting the do-part every time. But this months I finally managed! I started on March 10, so if all good well, I’ll have a success story later this month!
No. 42: Don’t eat sweet or salty snacks and sweet desserts for a month. Do this three times.
I’m snack free for the past two weeks. It’s my second month, which means I’m halfway of completing this goal! That feels great, since this is one of my long-term goals.
No. 40: Lose 30 kg (66 lbs).
As you may have read in my weight loss post, I was so close to giving up this goal completely. But somehow I managed to deal with my failure earlier this month and I totally got back on track! One of the reasons is this blog. I couldn’t bear the fact that I had to tell the world I failed. So I guess I have you guys to thank for this! I lost 8 kg in total now, which is 17,6 lbs!
I also did some other stuff, like teaching my dogs some new tricks, finding things to photograph for my photo alphabet and assembling a surprise package for a friend which is now waiting to be sent. So I guess I will have a lot to blog about next month!
