Monthly updates My 101

Monthly Update December 2014

January 1, 2015

Happy New Year to all of you! I hope you had a blast yesterday and I wish you the very best in the year to come. The beginning of a new year means another has passed by. So did the month December. So let’s have a look at the goals I achieved last month!

I can be very short about that: none. Don’t be shocked please! It doesn’t mean I just sat around doing nothing and that I forgot all about my goals. In fact, I did a lot. I just happened to have taken on long-term goals. This is my progress so far:

Nr. 23: Learn how to create zentangles. Then fill a sketchbook with zentangles.

Tanya's 101 - Second month of the Day Zero Project. Goals accomplished this month: 0. Total goals accomplished: 1. Working on a lot of long-term goals.

In my monthly update of November I told you I had started tangling. I haven’t written a blog article about it yet though, because of my absence last month. But I promise I’ll write one soon. Creating zentangles really has become one of my favorite hobbies. I tangle everywhere and on everything! On postcards, on envelopes, on notebooks in the bus, on canvas… Oh, and in my sketchbook of course! Let’s not forget about the goal! I think I filled about 15% of my sketchbook so far. The books you see in the picture I bought to learn to master the technique. I use all three of them on a regular basis.

Nr. 30: Create 5 DIY projects of my Pinterest wall (1/5)

Tanya's 101 - Second month of the Day Zero Project. Goals accomplished this month: 0. Total goals accomplished: 1. Working on a lot of long-term goals.

I’ve created my first Pinterest project! It was a bag sewed out of an old jeans. I loved this project so much, that I even sewed two of them. I love the way they both turned out. If you’d like to know how I made them, you can read about it in this blog post.

Nr. 34: Own a ‘Wreck this journal’ and complete all the tasks in the book

I haven’t shown you any pages anymore after the first post about this goal, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy wrecking! I’ve finished a lot more pages and I’m looking forward to sharing them with you soon!

Nr. 35: Own either the diary ‘One line a day’ or ‘Q&A a day: a 5 year journal’ and write in it every day.

A couple of days ago, I bought myself a gift to open on January 1st. It was the book ‘Q&A a day: a 5 year journal’!

Tanya's 101 - Second month of the Day Zero Project. Goals accomplished this month: 0. Total goals accomplished: 1. Working on a lot of long-term goals.

I chose this one over the other, because I really love the style of the cover. It looks so magical, who wouldn’t want to write in this book? Furthermore, I’d prefer answering a question everyday instead of filling a blank page. I was afraid ‘One line a day’ would have resulted in me writing the same kind of stuff every day. Maybe eventually I’d even get bored. I didn’t want that to happen! I wanted to make sure I would keep my excitement of writing in it every day. Because that’s what this goal is all about!

Nr. 36: Take a selfie very month (3/30)

I didn’t forget about my monthly selfie of course. I wasn’t completely myself though, I was impersonating Bernadette from Big Bang Theory. I even cut bangs to improve my resemblance! You can read why in this post. This is my collection of monthly selfies so far:

Nr. 40: Lose 30 kg (66 lbs). (3/30)

December was a hard month for me to keep up with my diet, but still I succeeded in losing just a tiny bit of weight. In the blog article I posted yesterday you can read all about my struggle.

Nr. 60: Get a funeral insurance.

Yes, I did this! I finally got a funeral insurance! Why isn’t the goal accomplished then, you ask? Well, that’s because I only want to cross this off after proof is laying on my doormat. I already filled in the application and answered the list of medical questions. Now I’m just waiting for the confirmation. Once I’ve received the insurance policy, I’ll let you know.

Nr. 69: Try out 10 new recipes from 10 different cookbooks. (3/10)

Tanya's 101 - Second month of the Day Zero Project. Goals accomplished this month: 0. Total goals accomplished: 1. Working on a lot of long-term goals.

I figured Christmas was the perfect time to try out new recipes. So I did! You can see what I’ve cooked here.

Nr. 77: Watch 101 movies (7 of 101)

I also watched some movies again this month. I’ll let you know which ones I’ve seen so far and what I thought of them in a blog post this month.

January goals

See? Although I didn’t fully achieve any goals last month, I really made some great progress. But I like finishing some as well, of course! So this month, I will start off with some goals I can actually complete within the month. Today I started these two missions:

Nr. 44: Don’t drink soda for two weeks in a row.
Nr. 45: Drink a jug of water every day for a month.

It seemed only logical to combine the two.
I also want to take on a bigger goal:

Nr. 62. Keep a (personal) cash book for three months straight.

Of course, I shouldn’t forget to have fun, so I’m also planning on making sushi and hummus in January! I’ll keep you posted. Enjoy your year!

Tanya, your list is great! I loved the Bernadette costume idea. She’s just the cutest and you absolutely pulled off the link. Also, choosing a few goals to focus on each month makes so much sense. I should try that since I only have until September to finish my list.

Thank you so much! It was so much fun to impersonate her!

I’m glad to inspire you with the monthly focus! It helps a lot to not get overwhelmed by it all. 101 all at once would be a lot to worry about. I wish you good luck on your last month’s!
