Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great New Year’s Eve and that you could look back on a treat year full of accomplishments. I definitely could. I have done many things which I might not even had seen as accomplishments in the past, but since my list of 101 in 1001, I have started to look differently at these things. Trying to accomplish 101 goals in less then three years is a very big project! No matter how small some individual goals might be. But of course it helps to actually see the progress on paper, so let’s see what I have accomplished in December!
COMPLETED GOALS
No. 7: Visit a professional photographer to shoot pictures of me for my website and social media.
Well, technically she visited me, but the point is: I did it! I had a professional photo shoot! It was a bit weird at first, posing for the camera like I’m some kind of model, but gradually it grew on me. It was actually quite fun! And my photographer, Anne Galama, had such creative ideas. I wanted to give the whole thing a retro feel and she totally went with it and added even better ideas. We even took an old phone outside to shoot some ‘wireless’ pics! I will write about the experience and share more photos of course, but for now you this photo above will have to do.
No. 38: Write down 101 things I like about me.
In reality, I already accomplished this goal in November, but at the beginning of last month I finally posted my list of 101 things I like about me. It was not easy coming up with 101 things, but I managed in the end! And I must say, it made me feel very positive. I’d recommend anyone to try this. I even made a page in my Wreck This Journal in which I creatively wrote down all the 101 things I came up with. This way I only have to look at that page to see all the positive things I believe are me!
No. 72: Have a movie marathon of at least 5 movies.
I’m the Netherlands, we have a holiday on December 5th. It’s ‘Sinterklaas’ or Saint Nicholas. It’s mostly for children, although adult often celebrate it as well by doing something similar to Secret Santa. Ruud and I decided to give this holiday a completely different twist by having our movie marathon that day! We watched How To Train A Dragon, How To Train A Dragon 2, Mulan, Brave and Up. I haven’t written about it yet, but I will!
No. 81: Go see a professional musical.
I have loved musicals all my life. However, I have only seen one once. And that was not even because I’d chosen to see this musical myself. It was part of a company outing. I reckoned it was about time I finally chose a musical to see. And the one I picked, was the perfect choice! If you’re curious, then read my review about this musical, Het Meisje Met Het Rode Haar. It will be in theater’s until the end of this month! So hurry if you’d like to see it as well!
PROGRESSED GOALS
No. 24: Upload 5 new songs on YouTube in which I sing. (2/5)
This month I uploaded my second song on YouTube since the start of this project! Since it was December, I made it a Christmas Carol: Away In A Manger. As you may have read in my post about my plans for 2016, I will start a musical video series this year. This means I will post new songs regularly from now on! Yay! If all goes as planned, this goal should be finished either in March or April. (But I will continue posting musical videos after that!)
No. 77: Watch 101 movies
The movie marathon helped a lot with this goal, obviously. But these weren’t the only movies I saw. During Christmas, I’ve also watched three movies: Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, The Nightmare Before Christmas and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. And on New Year’s Eve, Ruud and I watched Shrek. That brings my total of movies watched on 41.
CONTINUOUS GOALS
No. 35: Own a Q&A a Day and write in it every day.
It’s getting harder each month to keep up with it for some reason. The intervals of writing are getting longer. I still write something underneath each day, but it often a few days after I was actually supposed to do that. I hope my motivation to write daily will come back now, since this year will be my first year to answer all the questions I’ve already answered before. I can’t wait to see how my answers will change and what will stay the same!
No. 36: Take a selfie every month. (15/33)
I took my 15th selfie on December 31th, which means I’m still on track with this goal!
No. 40: Lose 30 kg (66 lbs). (4,5/30)
Yeah… This didn’t go so well at the end of 2015. Although December wasn’t a really bad month in the end. However, I will have to make some drastic changes if I ever want to succeed in this goal. And I literally mean ever, not only until the end of my 101 in 1001. That’s why I came up with a 5-step plan on how to succeed again in 2016. I know I can do it, I’ve succeeded before!
PLANS FOR JANUARY
I’ve got some big plans for this month! I have planned to finish my company website at the end of this month. I have already scheduled my writing time, in order to succeed before my deadline. I also want to design and print my business cards this month. If I’ll succeed at both of these goals, this will be a huge step in my journey as a freelance writer! Besides these career goals, I will also have my two ‘unplugged’ days next week, which means no tv, computer or mobile phone for two days. Ruud will join me in this goal, which should probably make it a lot easier. It’s a bit scary to be honest, but I am also very much looking forward to it. I also want to bake my last bread for the bread goal and on January 8th, I will see a dance performance. With a bit of luck, I will also host a high tea. I’m already planning it and it will happen soon. However, succeeding in it depends on whether my friends will be able to make it in January.
These are six goals of my 101 in 1001 list! Let’s hope I’ll manage to complete them all this month!

Tanya, you are inspiring me to adopt a similar plan. I love that you are doing it and documenting it to keep yourself motivated. Thanks for taking us along on your journey.
It’s so nice to hear I have inspired you! 🙂
What a great post! I love the idea of setting goals and staying accountable. I made a list of 30 things I wanted to accomplish by age 30 and while I didn’t achieve them all in time, I did quite a few. I hope you get to check more items off of your list and don’t worry, weight loss is never easy. Good luck in 2016!
Thank you! So great that you did a 30 before 30! I think it’s not even about achieving all of them (although I am trying, of course!), but at least get yourself to do most of them. If it weren’t for my list, I wouldn’t have done a lot of things. It gave me so much already, even if I’ve crossed of only about 1/3 of the list. 🙂 I can imagine your list also has given you much. 🙂
